Have skills, will travel
Andrea founded the MonTango Argentine tango school in Montreal in 2008. In her many roles at the school (teacher, performer, choreographer, event organizer, DJ, administrator), she built an extensive skill set. She co-produced and directed several shows, organized the Tanguerafest festival for 10 years, taught thousands of classes and DJed hundreds of milongas. Now pursuing her career as an independent dancer, Andrea is branching out, seeking new collaborations and travel opportunities.
As a dancer, Andrea is known for her musicality, groundedness, connection, and skill in both roles.
As a teacher, people remark on her structured pedagogy, clear instructions, understanding of movement and the body, and patience. She teaches regular weekly classes in Montreal, and travels to places like Ottawa and Halifax to give workshops. She has also taught at retreats in Montebello, QC; Italy; and on a Caribbean cruise.
As a DJ, Andrea knows how to read a room in order to keep the energy flowing and the dance floor full. She loves traditional milongas, but is also known as one of the best neo/alternative DJs around. She has DJed at countless milongas and festivals in Montreal and elsewhere in Canada over the last two decades, as well as in places like Seoul, South Korea; Lima, Peru; and Cancún, Mexico.
