Andrea’s yoga journey
Andrea, a long-time tango dancer and teacher, began practising yoga in 2010, to support her teaching and improve her flexibility. Little did she know it would mark the beginning of a life-changing journey. It has had a positive impact on her posture, dancing, and teaching, as well as how she responds to challenging situations and her overall emotional well-being. In 2015 she met Josephine Vittoria, who became her teacher of choice, mentor, and friend. The following year, Andrea signed up for her first teacher training, with Hervé Blondon of École Satyam. She completed her certification and began teaching in 2017. Since then she has completed over 500 hours of teacher training, with Josephine, Hervé, and their teacher, François Raoult. Their teaching, and Andrea’s, is inspired by the Iyengar method, focusing on correct alignment and using props to adapt the poses to every body. Andrea also specializes in yoga for tango dancers. She teaches at Yoga Essentiel in Montreal, and also offers classes online, with both pre-recorded options and live classes on Zoom. She has also taught at a number of yoga and tango retreats.

Classes at Yoga Essentiel
Monday and Wednesday
10-11:30 a.m.
Yoga Essentiel is a lovely, intimate, and bright studio in NDG run by Josephine Vittoria. The teachings at the school are inspired by the Iyengar method, in which fundamental postures are taught with a focus on alignment and detail, and are adapted to each individual's needs and physical abilities. Andrea has been studying with Josephine since 2015 and teaching at the school since 2023.
The school offers classes every day with morning and evening options. Andrea teaches a Kurunta (ropes) yoga class on Monday mornings and an all-levels class on Wednesday mornings.
